This is pretty much a photo spam post since I’m catching up on all the Instagram photos that I haven’t had a roundup for in ages. Fortunately for all of us, I don’t post a huge amount to Instagram.
It’s the first of June, and in all honesty I don’t know where this year has gone. Wasn’t it Christmas just a few weeks ago?! Below are my Instagram photos from the month of May.
It’s that time of the month again, so let’s have a look at what I’ve accomplished (or not) in May.
I will be honest, May has been a terrible month for me in regards to writing. Which is a shame, because I had such great plans. I’ve not revised more than a chapter or two, instead I’ve been plotting and planning for a couple of other books. There’s also some prep work that I’ve been doing in preparation for a more long term thing, but there’s nothing to show for it yet – so it doesn’t necessarily count. It took a lot longer than I had thought, and so May has been a bad month for writing.
The blog has had a face-lift, in that I have a new design with a new colour scheme and new icons etc. Tags is something that a lot of people use, but I haven’t – so I’ve also added a Tag cloud and I’m slowly (very slowly) going to go through all of the old posts and add tags to them. At least anything new will have tags on them.
We got a kitten! I’ve been missing having a cat since I left my precious girl back in Sweden when I moved. As much as I would have loved to bring her with me, it just wouldn’t have been fair to do that to her. She’s an outdoor cat used to the countryside, and I now live in a city with busy roads.
We adopted a little British Shorthair silver blue tabby a couple of weeks ago, and his name is Macallan. He’s very cuddly and has a lovely temperament. We’re very happy with him, and Bailey (the dog) loves him too!
In fairness, the dog may love him a little too much at times. Macallan is no longer wary of the dog, as he was the first few days, but Bailey can still be a little too overzealous with his wanting to love him. This gif pretty much sums up their relationship…
Oh, and something I did get done during May was step one in Project Flat Overhaul. When I moved to England we bought a flat, and while it was in a good enough condition to just move in and start living, I’m now at the point where I want to start making it ours. For now, all I can do due to money and time restraints is paint all the rooms (and even that will take a bit of time). So this month, I painted our second bedroom.
Like the dummy I am, of course I forgot to take a proper “before” photo, so here’s an old, crappy one when we still had moving boxes everywhere. The walls were a beige-ish colour.
Taking a photo of a wall for colour is not something I’m good at (as apparent above). The new colour is called Mint Macaroon and turned out really well, albeit not as we first thought. The paint sample was quite green, but the end result is actually a lot more blue than it might appear. Still, we really love the colour, so it’s still a win! And the room feels so much brighter!
I took my mom, my brother and Bailey to the beach one day. As it turned out, it was a nudist beach… But at least it wasn’t as packed as the other ones? Have to look at these things from the bright side! And there was no requirement to not wear clothes yourself (like I’ve seen on some beach in Spain), as you approach you just get a warning sign that naturists may be seen.
A wild nudist appears.
Every time I see that sign, that’s what I think. Pokemon has damaged me, and I don’t even play it.
Anyway, we still had a good time at the beach. My mom and I even managed to take a swim in the ocean. It wasn’t exactly warm, but we managed to do it by going in very slowly, getting used to it a little bit at a time. A more brave person may have just run in and done it quickly, but I am not that person.
We didn’t stay as long on the beach as I think we would have liked, since my brother wasn’t really enjoying it and we felt bad. Bailey had fun though, until we were told that he had to be on a lead, which I didn’t know, so he’d been running around until then. Apparently it was because it was “so busy”. Compared to the beach in the town centre, I wouldn’t have called it busy, but I guess it was too busy to have him loose.
And yes, the man in the background is most likely nude. Fortunately the photo is too pixelated to tell.
After the beach, we continued onto Swanage, a little beach town nestled in a cove. We didn’t have enough change for the parking meter to stay for more than an hour, which was a shame. (Planning, not my forte!) We sat at a little beach bar and had a milkshake, enjoying the view.
I’m feeling rather bored at the moment, and what sucks is not having the energy to do anything about it. However, today I managed to do the dishes which is quite an accomplishment these days (sadly this is true). I’m just glad it’s done and I hope that tomorrow I can continue and get some more stuff done in the apartment.
My brother Sebastian has gone back home and I had a couple of weeks with just me and the boys at home, but this week my stepsister Felicia is visiting. It’s nice getting some “quality time” with my brothers and sisters sometimes since when visiting them it’s usually quite hectic with so much people in one place.
Speaking of visiting I’m going up to Örebro on Thursday to take Felicia home and will be staying until Saturday. While there I’m planning to go see the new Batman movie with my brother – which I’m very much looking forward to since I’ve heard good things about the movie.
Below are some photos of the rats’ cage when newly cleaned and a picture of Nimbus (white with red eyes) and Gizmo (white and brown). I know a lot of people don’t like rats, but they’re really quite intelligent and sociable. Sadly I can’t have them out as much as I’d like to since Bailey is much too interested in them and I’m worried his “playing” might be a bit too much for the little guys.
My apologies to anyone who actually reads my blog, I realise I’ve not written in ages. It would appear that I’m exceedingly bad at doing so. So, what’s new?
The move went well, I’m now safely arrived – and at least somewhat unpacked – in my new apartment in Ed. Bailey is loving living closer to nature again, and of course to all his friends who we meet nearly every day for a walk in the forest or by the lake. Also my new little boys Nimbus and Gizmo have moved in of course. I will try to have some pictures up of everything in the near future.
Okay, that’s all I’ve got for now. Just a quick update really, I will try to be better at writing again, I swear!
My mom just sent over some photos of my two new boys; Nimbus and Gizmo. Next Saturday we will all move into my new apartment – but at the moment the boys are still with their mother Zelda. The photos aren’t the best, but it’s all I have to offer at the moment.
Other than that I’ve mainly been worrying about all the packing that needs to be done and loving the summer weather (which sadly is meant to come to an end tomorrow).
Below you can see Nimbus who is quite pale, then Gizmo who has some darker patches and their lovely new home which my mom has made for them 🙂
Bailey and I decided to take a drive out to the lakeside trail today for a nice walk since the sun was shining. It looked really promising and it was all very nice until it suddenly started raining. And not just a drizzle either, but a real downpour with big, heavy drops that just seem to go straight through your clothes.
While we were out Bailey also managed to make a child cry… The little boy was running to his car and Bailey got a little frightened and growled, scaring the little boy from his wits. Such a nice dog… *shakes head* Well, he actually is really adorable – he just doesn’t know how to behave around others. Something he’s picked up from his master perhaps?
I’ve chosen one of the rats that I will take – and now I just have to choose a second one. I’m holding off a little though since I need to make sure I get two of the same sex since I don’t particularly want to suddenly have another ten *lol* I think the one I’ve chosen is male, but I want to be certain. It’s still a while before we will separate them from their mother anyway. They’re now just over two weeks old and they’re becoming very cute and starting to move around and explore.
I have yet to choose names for my rats as well, but I think that will come once I have decided which two I’m getting.
In other news Bailey has had a massive haircut. He’s barely recognisable! But it was something that had to be done since his fur had gotten way out of hand. Check out the before and after photos! His fur will grow out obviously and he will soon again be the adorable ragamuffin we’re all used to 😛
Other than that it’s been decided that I move to my new apartment on 17 May (this may still change slightly, but it’s the date currently set) and I’m looking forward to having the move over and done with. Getting access to my new little garden isn’t all bad either of course 😉
I don’t really dare to hope for spring, because so far whenever my grandma and I have said that the weather finally seems to be getting better and spring is coming it’s started snowing the same day or the next day. We obviously jinxed it. So no, spring is not coming – it’s not here – and it had better not start snowing now!
The weather is really nice today though even if a bit chilly, and I hope it stays. Tomorrow – Friday – my baby brother Isak is coming to stay for the weekend. We’re gonna go to the “Water palace” for some water fun and probably take a walk along the large lake (Vänern) with Bailey. Then on Sunday I’m taking him back home and going to stay there as well for a week since Bailey has an appointment with the hairdresser! I think it may look really funny when all of his fur comes off.
Saturday next week is the twice annual market/fair that they always have in my mom’s village. It’s not quite as fun as it was when I was a child, but it’s still something of a habit – or tradition, if you will – to go even if just for a little while. In the evening there will most likely be a party at the hotel bar, but I don’t have any friends in the area anymore so I doubt I’ll go.
Posting a picture that I couldn’t post around Valentine’s Day which is when it was taken since I managed to lose the USB cable for my camera. Finally got a memory card reader though, so I can have photos again, yay! Since I wasn’t out on a date or anything having heart-shaped ice in my diet coke was the extent of my valentine’s celebration. I was quite pleased with it though.
Oh and Isak has a rat, and he recently bought a second one for company – only he got a bit more than he bargained for since it turned out to be pregnant! A week ago we discovered 11 new little rat babies in the cage! This is a picture of them from their first day, they’re not really very cute then since they’re naked, deaf and blind *lol*
I’m considering taking two rats for myself actually. I know most people think they’re yucky (I thought so myself) but truth is they’re really quite pleasant and very intelligent and social.
